911 Fee
A monthly government regulatory fee that includes the cost of pre-programming and maintaining 911 interconnection.
Access fee (applicable only to Canadian wireless phone users):
Monthly charge by wireless carriers to cover the operational costs associated with the expansion and maintenance of the wireless network. On your first invoice this charge appears twice, one for the month in advance and the second for the partial fee from your activation date to the end of your first bill period.
Activation:
The process of creating a new account. An activation fee is a one-time charge that will appear on your first monthly bill upon the activation of your Wherifone. The activation fee may apply again in the case of service cancellation and reactivation.
Additional Local Unit:
The overage unit accrued, for which you pay and Additional Local Unit fee, when you go beyond your monthly service plan allotment.
Cancellation fee:
Terminating your service before the contract agreement is up will incur a cancellation fee. Cancelling your service any time after the contract agreement will not incur a cancellation fee.
Emergency Call:
Preprogrammed by the manufacturer to call 911.
Find Now (1 location request = 1 unit):
A notification reporting the location of the device-carrying user, given the Wherifone is turned on and is in a place mobile network coverage.
Follow Now:
Automatic, reoccurring location requests, as programmed by the subscriber.
GPS:
Global Positioning System (a satellite-based navigation system).
GPRS Failure:
General packet radio service (GPRS) is a mobile data transfer service used by Wherify's GSM platform. When "GPRS failure" appears on the Wherifone display, it means a location request could not be completed because of poor GSM coverage. Check the signal strength bar/icon on the phone display to see your network coverage availability.

Global System for Mobile Communications
IMEI:
International Mobile Equipment Identity number on the back of the GSM Wherifone
Long Distance:
An automatically enabled Wherifone feature that allows you to make voice calls to another phone number outside of the local area of your service plan. However, long distance fees do apply.
LSC (Location Service Center):
An online web interface that allows customers logged in to manage their account settings, program buttons on the Wherifone, and perform location requests.
Roaming:
An automatically enabled Wherifone feature that allows you to use GSM networks outside your normal service coverage area. However, roaming fees do apply to these location requests and voice call minutes.
SIM card:
Subscriber Identity Module card; this chip inserted into the Wherifone identifies the caller to the mobile network and encrypts the voice and data transmissions.
SMS:
Short Messaging Service; also referred to as text messaging, in which short messages are sent from and received by your phone.
Standby Time:
Amount of time your phone is expected to maintain power after being fully charged; standby time reduces over time as your phone battery undergoes normal usage.
Talk Time:
Amount of time your phone is expected to be in active use after being fully charged; talk time reduces over time as your phone battery undergoes normal usage.
Tri-band:
The three standard global frequencies (GSM 900/1800/1900 or GSM 850/1800/1900) that enable network access in Europe, America, and Asia.
Unit:
One unit is equivalent to one location request or one minute of talk time on the Wherifone.
Wireless Button Programming:
Go online to Wherify's Location Service Center to program up to 23 phone numbers wirelessly into your Wherifone (3 phone numbers on the 3 speed dial buttons and up to 20 in the Phone Book)
